Darren Clarke wins the Open Championship
What is it with these golfers from Northern Ireland? Darren Clarke is the latest after Greame McDowell and Rory McIlroy to become a major winner from Northern Ireland. As he won the Open Championship at Royal St George’s.
He played well throughout the whole tournament and stayed on track right up to the final putt. While others around him faltered in their challenge to take the famous claret jug, Darren kept his nerve and never faltered.
Darren winning the open title is a very popular one as could be seen from the celebrations from the crowd as he approached the 18th Green. He is a popular golfer who has been around for a long time on the pro tour and he is held close to the hearts of the european supporters as he has been a major player in the Ryder cup.
